The Parkway Playhouse offers a number of opportunities for students of all ages and experience levels to explore their dramatic side. The Parkway Playhouse in association with Mayland Community College will offer classes, workshops, and trips for adults. SPOTLIGHT YOUTH THEATRE The Spotlight Youth Theatre Program offers classes, performances, and a summer drama camp- all designed for children aged 5-15 More information about our Winter session and Summer Classes will be available soon. INTERN COMPANY Each summer the Parkway Playhouse invites high-achieving students with an interest in theatre and arts/nonprofit management between the ages of 16-21 to be a part of the theatre company. Over the course of the Parkway Playhouse’s summer season, interns have an intensive experience, taking on many of the responsibilities associated with running a professional theatre company. Interns are involved with every artistic and administrative aspect of the theatre’s operation. Interns have played major roles in productions, assisted with grant writing, served as department heads for productions. Interns receive a stipend and are competitively selected from a pool of applicants. Preference is given to applicants residing in the Yancey/Mitchell/Madison/Avery County area of North Carolina.
