Sister Act is showing here at Parkway Playhouse May 29-June 7, 2026!

We reached out to Karen Covington-Yow, who is portraying Sister Mary Lazarus in this comedy, to find out more about her and her experience working on this production.

What part of this show is your favorite and why?

My favorite part is hanging with my nun sisters. Sisters rock!

What about this show do you think will stick with audiences?

I really think audiences will love the message of selflessness and spreading love.

What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?

I love the people who tirelessly work so hard to make this playhouse a place of family, love, and respect.

How did you get into theatre?

I was born a performer. I’ve been doing this ever since I was a kid.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?

Um, theatre of course! And I love going to Dollywood, which is less than 2 hours away.

Tell us about yourself!

I am a retired attorney who ultimately turned her love of singing and acting into a professional theatre career. I have played a nun so many times that I purchased my own habit. Ok, I have two habits, just in case I need a backup. But I’m not really a nun. Or am I? Wait, no, I’m not because I have a wonderful hubby named Mike, who plays that no-good Curtis in this show, as well as two kitty cats named Khaleesi and Nymeria.
