Parkway Playhouse Junior is pleased to offer high-quality vocal instruction to our students! To register, or for more information, contact Jenny Martin, Director of Education at [email protected]. Voice lessons are offered on a 12-week schedule, in either 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, depending on the instructor. Private voice lessons range from $300-600 per 12 weeks.

Courtney Malone (ages 10-18)

Courtney Malone has been teaching vocal lessons to children and adults for over 20 years. She teaches using the Seth Riggs Vocal Method of Speech Level Singing. “Speech Level Singing is an absolute refusal to reach for any pitch. In other words – the larynx needs to stay on the general level of where you speak – hence Speech Level Singing.” ~Seth Riggs

This method is used by hundreds of Grammy Award Winning artists, such as Barbara Streisand, Josh Groban, Jennifer Lopex, Michael Jackson, Cher, Britney Spears, Olivia Newton John, Liza, Minelli, Bette Midler, and Julie Andrews, just to name a few. Used properly, this method will keep a singer’s voice safe and will bridge the vocal break with ease.

Melanie Veazey (ages 12-18)

Ms. Melanie is a proud graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned her BFA in musical theater. As an actor, Melanie has been a principal performer in a variety of national and regional TV commercials for, among others, Disney, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. She also appeared in the ABC TV series “Equal Justice”, the internet series’ “What’s New America” and “Mastering Business”. Theatrically, her favorite roles include Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Morticia in Addams Family, Masha in Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike, Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, and most recently, Gaynelle, in The Red Velvet Cake War. As a private vocal coach, Melanie has spent the last 20 years, developing the talents of many rising stars. She specializes in finding and encouraging a singer’s confidence and unique voice while training them to use their gifts safely and effectively. Though her favorite genre is musical theater, Melanie uses a variety of song styles to help make her students relevant in today’s competitive market. Melanie looks forward to working with, guiding, and training the next generation of performers at The Parkway Playhouse.
