Audition Dates and Times

Mainstage Auditions

Experienced Auditioners:
Saturday, February 12, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Sunday, February 13, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Please come prepared with a one-minute monologue (not necessarily from the show being cast), 32 bars of sheet music for an accompanist for a musical audition (musical pieces from the show we are casting are acceptable, but not required), please bring a resume and, if you have one, a headshot.

Less Experienced Auditioners:
Saturday, February 12, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Sunday, February 13, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Rather than preparing a monologue, you will be given sides (portions of the script) to read from. If you’d like to be considered for the musical, you should be prepared to sing part of a song of your choice. You’re welcome to provide sheet music for the accompanist or sing without music. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please bring them.

Junior Auditions

The Addams Family, Young @ Part will run on May 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22. Auditions for The Addams Family will be Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 2:00-4:30pm at the Mountain Heritage Center, across from Parkway Playhouse. Students must be enrolled in a Conservatory Class or pay a one-time Junior Production Fee after they are cast, to participate in the show.

Students enrolled in a Conservatory Class are eligible to audition for the Fall and Spring Junior Show. Alternatively, students may pay a one-time Junior Participation Fee to participate in the Fall or Spring show. Students should prepare a 45-60 second monologue and 32 bars of a song from a musical. For more information about Junior auditions, click here.

COVID Audition Procedure

Masks are required for everyone, including while auditioning.

Audition Process

Parkway Playhouse is a Community Theater and welcomes EVERYONE regardless of skill-level or experience. We know that auditioning can be stressful and daunting. To facilitate the most positive, welcoming and stress-free audition experience we are offering two audition options. One audition will be specifically for experienced auditioners, the other for inexperienced auditioners. Each performer may choose to attend either audition, though we respectfully request that you honor the spirit of this offering – if you are an experienced auditioner, please attend the designated audition. All auditioners will be considered for all roles.

Experienced Auditioners

Please come prepared with a one-minute monologue (not necessarily from the show being cast), 32 bars of sheet music for an accompanist for a musical audition (musical pieces from the show we are casting are acceptable, but not required), please bring a resume and, if you have one, a headshot.

Less Experienced Auditioners

Rather than preparing a monologue, you will be given sides (portions of the script) to read from. If you’d like to be considered for the musical, you should be prepared to sing part of a song of your choice. You may also be asked to participate in learning some choreography. You’re welcome to provide sheet music for the accompanist or sing without music. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please bring them.

Free Audition Workshop

We’re offering a FREE audition workshop on February 6th from 4:00pm-5:30pm where we’ll be teaching everything you need to know to prepare for auditions. Come join us! Taught by Jenny Martin, this workshop will take place at the Mountain Heritage Center across the street from Parkway Playhouse at 113 Green Mountain Drive, Burnsville, NC 28714. Please email Jenny Martin at deo@parkwayplayhouse.com to sign up for your spot!

Video Auditions

Actors who are unable to attend either of the open audition dates, please submit recorded audition videos no later than February 12, 2022 at casting@parkwayplayhouse.com.

Compensation

While it is our fervent desire to be able to pay all performers at a level that truly reflects their time, talent and commitment, budget constraints require that Named Roles are limited to some pay and Ensemble performers are volunteer positions. During our 2022 season, we will be unable to accommodate members of Actor’s Equity Association.
