2023 Audition & Casting Information

Audition Dates and Times

Mainstage Auditions

Experienced Auditioners:
January 21, 2023: 10:00am – 1:00pm
January 22, 2023: 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Please come prepared with a one-minute monologue (not necessarily from the show being cast), 32 bars of sheet music for an accompanist for a musical audition (musical pieces from the show we are casting are acceptable, but not required), please bring a resume and, if you have one, a headshot.

Less Experienced Auditioners:
January 21, 2023: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
January 22, 2023: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Rather than preparing a monologue, you will be given sides (portions of the script) to read from. If you’d like to be considered for the musical, you should be prepared to sing part of a song of your choice. You’re welcome to provide sheet music for the accompanist or sing without music. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please bring them.

Junior Auditions

Our next Parkway Playhouse Junior production will be Newsies JR! Auditions will be on February 11, 2023. Keep an eye out for more info!

Students enrolled in a Parkway Playhouse Junior Class are eligible to audition for our junior productions. Alternatively, students may pay a one-time Junior Participation Fee to participate. Students should prepare a 45-60 second monologue and 32 bars of a song from a musical.

Audition Process

Parkway Playhouse is a Community Theater and welcomes EVERYONE regardless of skill-level or experience. We know that auditioning can be stressful and daunting. To facilitate the most positive, welcoming and stress-free audition experience we are offering two audition options. One audition will be specifically for experienced auditioners, the other for inexperienced auditioners. Each performer may choose to attend either audition, though we respectfully request that you honor the spirit of this offering – if you are an experienced auditioner, please attend the designated audition. All auditioners will be considered for all roles.

Experienced Auditioners

Please come prepared with a one-minute monologue (not necessarily from the show being cast), 32 bars of sheet music for an accompanist for a musical audition (musical pieces from the show we are casting are acceptable, but not required), please bring a resume and, if you have one, a headshot.

Less Experienced Auditioners

Rather than preparing a monologue, you will be given sides (portions of the script) to read from. If you’d like to be considered for the musical, you should be prepared to sing part of a song of your choice. You may also be asked to participate in learning some choreography. You’re welcome to provide sheet music for the accompanist or sing without music. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please bring them.

Video Auditions

Actors who are unable to attend either of the open audition dates, please submit recorded audition videos no later than January 22, 2023 at casting@parkwayplayhouse.com.

Compensation

While it is our fervent desire to be able to pay all performers at a level that truly reflects their time, talent and commitment, budget constraints require that Named Roles are limited to some pay and Ensemble performers are volunteer positions. During our 2023 season, we will be unable to accommodate members of Actor’s Equity Association.
