Arsenic and Old Lace is showing here at Parkway Playhouse October 10-19, 2025! We reached out to Aaron Ybarra, who is playing Mortimer Brewster in this classic spooky comedy, to find out more about him and his experience working on this production.

What part of this show is your favorite and why?

Gibbs & Einstein’s “Terrrrrible Things” cause I mean, have you met them?? They’re hilarious.

What about this show do you think will stick with audiences?

I think they will think it is fun. It is a cute show. Lots of zaney antics. We could all use a laugh.

What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?

Everyone is super kind. I feel very welcomed. It’s nice to meet new faces and work with familiar ones too! Thankful Daniel reached out with the opportunity!

How did you get into theatre?

My sister has always had the theater bug. She saw it in me, too, but it didn’t officially dig in until I moved to North Carolina. That’s where I started studying film acting and, through people involved in that, I ended up getting into theater.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?

Sing, dance, and make people feel emotions as a character on stage.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Aaron Ybarra. I’m Mexican and Cajun. I hear the name is Basque, which is cool, cuz the basque region borders Spain and France. I moved into the area from Southern California about a decade ago. My, how time flies!
