Vanities is opening here at Parkway Playhouse on September 6, 2024! We reached out to actor Alexa Nemitz to find out more about her and her experience working on this production.

What’s your favorite part of this show and why?

It’s hard to pick just one but I’d say my favorite part of the show is the first scene where the Southern accent is thick and we’re all just popular, vain cheerleaders. It’s my favorite because it sets up such a contrast for how my character ends up at the end.

What about this show do you think will stick with audiences?

I think the idea of “Will you examine where you lack real value in your life and will you do anything about it?”

How excited are you to be working with this incredible cast?

SUPER!! Everyone working on this show is so talented and has really added to the teamwork of doing a show. I’ve loved all our discussions about the characters and getting input on Kathy that I might not have thought of on my own.

What have you loved about working on this production?

I love playing three best friends because it requires such authenticity on the stage. Us three actors have to do the behind-the-scenes work so that the three characters’ friendship is real onstage. It’s such a fun process.

How did you get into theatre?

When I was 10, my very best friend moved far away and my mom decided I needed an outlet to be dramatic that wasn’t our house ha! Ever since then, I’ve never wanted to stop.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?

A cute coffee shop and I’m set for hours! I’m from Arden so my favorite is All is Well in Fletcher!

What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?

Seeing how much they care about the plays they put on and the people involved! So much attention to detail and everyone is so eager to lend a helping hand. It’s wonderful
