Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is showing here at Parkway Playhouse June 20-July 6, 2025. We reached out to actor Alma Rouse, who is portraying Matilda, about her experience working on this production.
What’s your favorite part of this show and why?
My favorite part of this show is when we do “Bruce”. The choreography and singing is SO fun!!
What’s your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is Sylvia Doe and the 100-Year Flood. I like it because it’s so relevant and has so many good cliff hangers!!
How excited are you to be working with this incredible cast?
I am super excited to be working with this cast. It’s really different having adults in the same show, but I like it because I get to see some more experienced actors, and because of that I can learn a lot more.
What have you loved about working on this production?
Despite being a challenge, I’ve really enjoyed having funny accents. In my past shows, most everyone talked in their normal voice, so this is fun and new!
How did you get into theatre?
I got into theatre by my friends. I used to watch them perform, and then I decided maybe I should try it out, and I love it!!
What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?
One of my favorite places to go around here is Vic’s Place mini golf. It’s one of our only mini golf courses. I also love the Burnsville pool!
What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?
I love being around lots of kids and the opportunity to meet new people.
