Our Town is showing here at Parkway Playhouse May 23-June 1, 2025! We reached out to actor Aster Norby, who is portraying Si Crowell, Joe Crowell, and understudying Emily, about their experience working on this production.

What’s your favorite part of this show and why?

I think about how relevant it still is today. Our Town is over 100 years old, and the fact that it can be connected so perfectly to life today, I think, will stick with people a lot and shows the genius of the writing.

What about this show do you think will stick with audiences?

I think how relevant it still stays today. Our Town is over 100 years old, and the fact that it can be connected so perfectly to life today I think will stick with people a lot and shows the genius of the writing.

How excited are you to be working with this incredible cast?

Unbelievably! Everyone is so talented, driven, and kind.

What have you loved about working on this production?

Getting to know everyone as people! Not only is everyone so wonderful behind the scenes, but I think making real-life connections makes the show feel more real.

How did you get into theatre?

I heard a song from Dear Evan Hansen in the fifth grade, loved it, and decided I needed to do it. I’ve loved it ever since.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?

I’m a huge coffee person, and Appalachian Java is so, so good. Also, the drive into Burnsville from Asheville (where I live) is unreal. The mountains are so beautiful, sometimes I’ll just sit in my car and stare.

What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?

It’s very much a community. Everyone is so welcoming and committed to working together to make the shows the best they can be.
