Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is showing here at Parkway Playhouse June 20-July 6, 2025. We reached out to actor Hiero Swanson, who is portraying Lavender, about her experience working on this production.
What’s your favorite part of this show and why?
My favorite part of the show is the School Song. I like the Choreography. I get to be picked up twice and it’s really fun!!
What’s your favorite book and why?
My favorite Books are the Chronicles of Narnia Series. The chapters always end in a cliffhanger, so I never want to stop reading!! They never get boring even when I have read them more than once!
How excited are you to be working with this incredible cast?
This is my first Main Stage Show and I am so happy and excited to be working with both adults and kids! I’m also a tiny bit nervous because it feels like more pressure! But that just makes me work a little harder.
What have you loved about working on this production?
I have a lot of fun at the choreography classes! I also LOVE doing run throughs and Dress Rehearsals! I love getting to do the whole play over and over!!
How did you get into theatre?
I’ve always loved to sing and act out movies. My first play was a Christmas play at church and I realized how much I love performing! Theater brings me joy and it’s so much fun to dress up and act out a character that is different than you (although most of the characters I have played have been a lot like who I am in real life!)
What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?
My favorite thing to do is be in plays at Parkway Playhouse!
What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?
Everything!
