Little Women is showing June 7-16, 2024 here at Parkway Playhouse! This adaptation by Kate Hamill is based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott. We recently sat down with cast member, Jenny Martin, who is portraying Marmee to ask her about her experience working on this production!

What’s your favorite part of this show and why?

I love the Christmas scene; it’s so cozy and nostalgic. I remember reading this book as a 5th grader and loving the sweet relationships between the sisters and Marmee.

What about this show do you think will stick with audiences?

The connections between the sisters and Marmee, and Laurie and the sisters. Erika did a great job casting this show, and has done a fantastic job asking deep questions that get us thinking about the choices we make on stage.

How excited are you to be working with this incredible cast?

I love it! It’s a perfect mix of folks new to Parkway, and lifelong friends. I have really enjoyed working with Raven, who is my former student, and my current Parkway Jr students. It’s a true “worlds collide” situation.

What have you loved so far about working with Parkway Playhouse?

Parkway is my second home. I have worked here in one capacity or another since I was 15, and I love everything about it, in particular the connections I make with the wonderful people who make it special.
